Why the BJP is not bringing forward Raje as face for Raj polls: CM Gehlot
Jaipur: Taking a jibe at BJP on its strategy to contest upcoming Assembly elections on PM Narendra Modi’s face, CM Ashok Gehlot on Thursday asked why the party does not bring forward former CM Vasundhara Raje.
He said that the local leaders of the BJP who are in the race for the CM post were not capable enough to win the elections and therefore the party has projected the face of PM Narendra Modi for the State Assembly elections. The CM questioned why Raje was absent from the BJP’s protest in Jaipur on Tuesday. He said that the CM face (Raje) is sitting at home and the party has brought forward others.
“Why did not Vasundhara come to the post? She has been the CM twice, bring her forward,” he said. Without naming anyone, Gehlot said the local leaders of the BJP who are in the race to CM post will not be able to compete in the elections therefore they have projected PM Modi’s face.
“Modi is the PM. You are Modi’s face forward in the state assembly polls. You are so incompetent that you say that you will fight on Modi’s face. I am not the PM, I would like to contest the election on the basis of the work I have done in Rajasthan, the performance I have given, and the work I have done for the welfare of the people,” he told reporters at CMR
Gehlot said that the BJP leaders who won 3, 4 or 5 elections in the state could not become so competent that the party could make them CM candidate.
Gehlot said that the one who is the CM face in BJP is sitting at home. he said. Gehlot said that it was blamed that she saved his government during the political crisis in 2020.
“She didn’t save my govt. Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal had given their view that there is no tradition in our state to topple govt by horse trading. Was it wrong to say this? They were right, and I just welcomed that,” he said.
