Tough battle between BJP, Cong; JMCG to get new mayor today

Jaipur: The JMCG will get its new mayor on Thursday as 146 councillors will cast their vote in the by-election for the post of mayor. The voting will take place between 10 am to 2pm. The govt has appointed Commissioner of Horticulture Dept Chetan Ram Deora and Commissioner of Social Justice and Empowerment Department Anuprana Singh Kuntal as observers for elections. Meanwhile, both Cong and BJP have kept their councillors close and have lodged them at separate hotels. They will leave for JMC office on Thursday to cast their votes. A total of 74 votes are needed to win the by-election. The BJP has named Rashmi Saini while the Cong has fielded Hema Singhania. Food & Civil Supplies Min Pratap S Kharchariyawas said that both BJP & Cong have staked their claims. However, BJP has more numbers with them.
