Sudhir’s ‘greater powers’ have added responsibilities and burden too!

Jaipur: In the Udhyog Bhawan, IAS Sudhir Kumar Sharma is perhaps the most powerful, overloaded and busiest officer as he is handling the responsibilities of not just one or two, but four posts at one time. He was already handling the posts of MD, RIICO and Commissioner DMIRC, but through the last IAS transfer list, he was handed the additional charge of two major and important posts - Commissioner, Industries and Commissioner, BIP.

If we leave out 2002 batch IAS - Ashutosh AT Pednekar, there have always been independent and full-time IAS posted on these posts, and that too direct recruited IAS. Ashutosh held these four posts from January 2021 to January 2022 and after this, it was for the first time that a promotee IAS Mahendra Kumar Parakh was appointed as Commissioner, Industries.

But when in May 2023 Parakh was transferred, the additional charge of Commissioner, Industries was handed to BIP Commissioner Om Prakash Kasera. Now that Kasera has been transferred to Udaipur, so the two positions under him were handed to Sudhir Kumar Sharma.

Sudhir is a promotee IAS of 2012 batch and is considered an expert of financial management. For more than four years, he worked in the Finance Department on posts from Director, Budget to Secretary, Budget. His capacity and ability is second to none, but he has been overburdened with work and responsibilities in the Udhyog Bhawan. Till now, he has always held the responsibility of one post, but now handling the responsibilities of four posts is a major challenge for Sudhir Sharma. Notably, he still has one more year to go before his retirement.
