Smart LED lights to replace old ones on city outskirts, JDA to save Rs 3 cr annually

Jaipur: Low cost floodlights will illuminate the outskirts of the capital in the coming four months. The floodlights will replace the 15-year-old sodium lights installed in the outskirts of the capital which are outside the limits of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation and Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation.

Similarly, old LED lights are installed at other places as well. These lights consume more electricity and do not light up the area well. Besides, many are not functioning. Jaipur Development Authority will replace 5,000 such lights in the first phase. Smart LED lights will be installed in place of these old lights.

The state government has also ordered that old sodium and faulty lights be replaced with energy efficient lights. JDA has also given a work order to the firm for this project costing about Rs 11 crore.
