Schedule for panchayat and local bodies byelections declared

Jaipur: The State Election Commission on Wednesday declared the schedule for by-elections of various panchayats and municipal bodies of Rajasthan. Officials informed that voting will be held on August 20 for the vacant posts of eight panchayat samiti members, 28 sarpanch, 285 ward panchs, 28 upsarpanch and 11 members along with Chairman of Alwar Municipal Council.

“The process of nomination will start from August 4. Nominations will be filed till August. Similarly, withdrawal of nominations will be allowed till August 12 and voting will be held from 8am to 5pm on August 20. The results will be announced on August 21,” officials said. Likewise, the nomination for post of Chairman will be filed from Aug 22 to 23 and counting will take place on August 28.
