RTDC makes Rs 3 cr profit from Palace on Wheels

Jaipur: Palace on Wheels has given a profit of about Rs 3 crore to Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC). After the COVID-19 period, Palace on Wheels started continuous trip from October 22, 2022 and till January 2023, 500 passengers have travelled in it.

Most of the passengers were Indian. As the increasing the number of domestic tourists, RTDC considering to redesign the fare of this luxury train according to Indian standard. The next round of Palace on Wheels which is going to start from 18th February, 78 passengers will travel in it. This figure of passengers is quite reassuring as 82 passengers can travel in this train at a time.

RTDC MD VP Singh said there has been a significant reduction in the number of foreign tourists after COVID period.
“In such a situation, the focus was on the Palace on Wheels in different cities of country, the result was that 40 to 50 per cent of Indians travelled in this royal train,” Singh said.

He also said that the Palace on Wheels would remain full in March-April as well.
“In the recently organised ‘International Travel Mart – FITUR’ in Madrid, Spain, which was attended by Rajasthan delegation of tourism, a roadshow was organised for Palace on Wheels, in the leadership of Chairman Dharmendra Singh Rathore, RTDC, which was appreciated by operators of the international tour-andtravel present there,” Singh added.

Indian Ambassador to Spain Dinesh K Patnaik had inaugurated the Rajasthan Tourism Pavilion at Fitur World Travel Mart in Madrid.
