Puri counters Cong’s tax claims, highlights Raj’s record collection

Jaipur: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri on Saturday targeted the Rajasthan government for expensive petrol and said that its price is the highest in the state. Puri said that today the average rate per liter of petrol across the country is Rs 96.72 whereas in Ganganagar, Rajasthan it is the highest at Rs 113.34.

While addressing a press conference at the BJP media center here, Puri hit back at CM Gehlot’s statement regarding the central government imposing more tax on petrol and diesel and said that the Chief Minister should look into his own affairs. He said that in the last two years, the Rajasthan government has collected tax of Rs 35975 crore on petrol and diesel till November 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Even if this tax is compared with other 18 states, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Ladakh, Daman-Diu, Jammu & Kashmir, the tax collection of Rajasthan alone is very high.
