PoW in trouble! Private agency being searched to run royal train for next 5 yrs

Jaipur: The royal train Palace on Wheels started running again after a long gap of 2.5 years but has started faltering since the beginning. Due to non-receipt of tourist bookings, 5 of the initial 8 tours of the royal train had to be cancelled. Even in the five tours that have taken place, the RTDC did not earn significant income. RTDC is now searching for a private agency for operation of the train on O&M model for five years. Bid can be submitted till Dec 2. Till now about 4 operators have shown interest. The old formula i.e. operations revenue sharing of 56:44 between Railways and RTDC has been stopped and now Railways has started charging per trip haulage fee, which is causing concerns for PoW
