UNDER GEHLOT'S LEADERSHIP, HIS GOVERNMENT PERFORMS BETTER THAN PREVIOUS BJP GOVT

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that the state government’s priority is to strengthen the road network in the state. “Social and industrial development has been made possible only by the development of roads. Therefore, there should not be any compromise on the quality of road construction works,” Gehlot said and directed to strengthen laboratories to check the works being done by the PWD and to take services of specialist agencies to check the quality of major projects.

Gehlot chaired the review meeting of the PWD held at the CMR on Thursday. He directed to complete all the budget announcements related to dept in a timely and quality manner as well as to do work of non-patchable roads on priority.

He said, “Government’s priority is to repair and upgrade the damaged roads. Adequate provision has been made in the budget for the construction of roads in the state, so that excellent roads are built in the state. Present govt has done manifold work in comparison to the previous govt during the tenure of 3 years and 4 months.

Out of these, we have spent `20,126 crore on development of 44,613 km of roads in comparison to last govt’s `15,383 crore. At the same time, in the upgradation and renewal of rural roads, works of 31,686 kms have been done as compared to 14,896 kms. This has given impetus to rural development by providing roads to the village panchayat headquarters.”

The CM added, “10 ROBs have been constructed in present government, whereas only 4 were built in the last government’s regime. During this 3 year tenure, 380 Junior Engineers and 319 Assistant Engineers were recruited, whereas in the same period only 14 posts of JEN were filled by previous govt.” PWD Minister Bhajan Lal Jatav said “In Rajasthan, budget for 2,841 km of roads can be obtained from Centre due to quality performance of works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana,” he said.

PWD’s Principal Secretary Naveen Mahajan said that almost all budget announcements would be completed by Nov 2023.
