No one from Gandhi family became PM or CM in past 32 years, what is Modi afraid of then, questions Gehlot

Jaipur: Amid the speculations over Congress’s new president, senior party leader and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said that the party is unanimously in favour of its leader Rahul Gandhi for the post. Gehlot said that considering the sentiments of Congress workers across country, Rahul Gandhi should accept the role. He said that Congressmen will be disappointed if he does not become party prez. “If Rahul does not become president, it will be a disappointment for Congress in country. Many people will sit at home and we will suffer. He (Rahul) should accept this post by himself, understanding the sentiments of common Congress people of India,” he said. Gehlot said that even within the party, there is an opinion in favour of making Rahul Gandhi the new President. Gehlot said, “The unanimous opinion is in support of his becoming the President, so I think he should accept it. It is not about Gandhi or non-Gandhi family. It is the work of the organisation and no one is becoming a Prime Minister.”

He further said, “In the last 32 years, no person from Gandhi family became Prime Minister, Union Minister or Chief Minister, then why Modi is afraid of this family. Why does Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have to say that nothing happened in 75 years in the country. Why is everyone attacking the Congress? It is because the DNA of Congress party & country is the same. Congress is the party that takes all religions and classes along.” “In 75 years, Congress kept democracy alive in the country. If there was no democracy, how would they have become the PM and CM? This is a gift of Congress to the country,” he said. The Chief Minister exuded confidence that the party would once again win in the state assembly elections to be held next year. “We will win the next election in 2023 then in the 2024 elections. This time it is not an easy game for PM Modi. The way Nitish Kumar has given a blow to them (BJP) in Bihar and the Congress has cornered the government through protests led by Rahul Gandhi on the issue of inflation and unemployment, the Modi government has been shaken by this and in 2024 anything can happen,” Gehlot said. He said party will mount pressure on Centre for its accountability. “The Union Minister is lying. I wrote two letters to Centre regarding GST Council meeting. PM is saying black magic to reduce GST. He came in defence because of the sentiments of the people.”
