Jaipur Metro to run by solar energy
Jaipur: In a major move, the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has decided to run the metro trains using solar energy in the city.
As a pilot project, the route segment between Badi Choupadi and Transport Nagar will initially be run by solar energy under Package-1C, said sources.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to make provision for this in its detailed project report (DPR). The decision came at a joint meeting of the JMRC and DMRC officials, presided over by JMRC CMD Ajitabh Sharma, here on Wednesday.
For this purpose, the project cost estimation will be revised from the present Rs 870 crore. As the present DPR is based on five-year-old estimates, the new DPR would include cost escalations too. In a bid to get a green tag for the project, Package-1C will be based on the ‘zero wastage’ concept.
The wastage emanating from the construction of the corridor will be reused somewhere else, the sources added.
