India will go for diversification of energy sources: Min Puri

Jaipur: Reacting to decision of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day, Union Min of petroleum and natural gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said India will do all that is required to ensure its energy security. He said if required, India will go for diversification of energy sources.

“This is their sovereign right what they want to do but equally it is my job to point out that all actions have consequence. India will be able to navigate through the situation with confidence,” he said at the three-day 5th South Asian Geoscience Conference “GEO India 2022” at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) in Sitapura, on Friday

“We will not allow any shortages to come in. Puri said that as per the estimate of sector, consumption of fuel will increase and 25 percent of global demand in the next 20 years will be from India. “We have diversified the sources from where we source energy,” he said.
