Gypsum mining norms eased in State

Jaipur: The permit process for the mineral gypsum will be simplified in the state. Additional Chief Secretary Mines, Petroleum and PHED Dr. Subodh Agrawal gave this information during a meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday. He has also directed to complete the necessary preparations for receiving the application for Phase IV permit of gypsum at the earliest.

Agrawal said that Rajasthan has the largest quantity of gypsum reserves in the country. There are deposits of gypsum in many districts of the state including Bikaner, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Nagaur.

“Mining of gypsum up to three meters depth from the surface has been declared as nonmining activity and no approval of the environment ministry is required for this,” he said.
