GCC keen to ‘quickly’ start talks for free trade agreement, asserts Piyush Goyal
Jaipur: Union Minister Piyush Goyal during the G-20 Trade and Investment Ministers meeting in Jaipur, underscored India’s remarkable accomplishments including the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission.
“We have large investments coming from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. We already have a FTA with UAE The GCC countries led by Saudi Arabia have expressed the desire to quickly get back on the negotiating table to discuss potential agreements with GCC countries. Many GCC member nations have also approached India individually with the request to enter into a bilateral agreement.”
Goyal charted a comprehensive agenda for the conference, emphasizing the elevation of international trade, proliferation of global prosperity, upliftment of developing and underdeveloped economies, and nurturing MSMEs.Underlining India’s role on the global stage, Goyal proclaimed that PM Modi’s leadership has amplified India’s voice, serving as an advocate for the concerns of less developed nations.
The meet witnessed first time participation from countries like Mauritius,Bangladesh, Oman, and Egypt.
