Frequent transfers of women IAS officers reek of gender bias!

Jaipur: Several women IAS officers were transferred after the latest list issued by the Department of Personnel on Monday. Whether it is a coincidence or the intention of the DoP, in most of these cases, the displeasure of the government towards them has come to the fore. The Women IAS officers were quickly removed from their previous posts and demoted in their new positions.
Officer of 2003-batch Veena Pradhan was removed from the post of MD RAJSICO in just 6 months and was shifted to the marginal post of Commissioner of Departmental Inquiry. In this government, she could stay only 13 months. She remained Barmer Collector for only one year and Collector of Nagaur for only 10 months. Her performance throughout the service has been average but now her posting in the departmental inquiry is being considered a punishment. The interesting fact is that for the first time, a woman IAS officer has been given this marginal posting.

Nalini Kathodia, 2010- batch officer, was transferred for the fourth time in a year. Just three months back in April, she was made Additional Commissioner BIP and the government made her sit in Udyog Bhawan. Earlier, she was removed in only 6 months from Skill Development Corporation months on the recommendation of minister Ashok Chandna. She could stay as Director ICDS for only 6 months. It is difficult to tell why she is not able to remain on any post for a longer period, but removing her from BIP and giving her this new responsibility is a sign of displeasure of the government with her.
