Farmers thank Birla for garlic procurement

Jaipur: LS Speaker Om Birla has urged the Rajasthan govt to start procurement to give relief to farmers who are forced to sell garlic at throwaway prices.

A delegation of farmers met Birla during his Sangod visit on Wednesday. They thanked the speaker for the efforts made in getting the proposal for govt procurement of garlic approved by the centre. They also apprised the speaker of their problems in procurement at state level.

Birla also said that the centre has given a green signal to the proposal for procurement of 40 quintals of gram instead of 25 quintals from the farmers.

During the visit to his constituency, the Birla offered prayers at Vakrangi mata temple in Neemoda Hariji village. Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra and former MLA Hiralal Nagar were also present.
