Dravyavati River rejuvenation project likely to resume soon

Jaipur: The rejuvenation work of Dravyavati River is expected to begin soon and the residents living near the catchment area of the 47-km-long River will get relief from the bad smell and scattered filth. Following the positive legal advice by Advocate General MS Singhvi, a new agreement will soon be signed between Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and consortium of companies before commencing the work. Notably, the work of this project had started on April 10, 2016 during the previous BJP government. However, the consortium stopped the maintenance work last month due to an overdue of Rs 55 crores towards electricity bill and Rs 65 crores to be paid for maintenance by JDA.

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is flouting its own Master Plan-2022. The JDA which had earmarked the Jawahar Circle area as a special project area in the Master Development Plan is being developed in an unplanned manner. Sources informed the main objective behind preparing a special plan around the Jawahar Circle area was to preserve the beauty of this area and check haphazard development. However, the JDA itself is giving approval to projects in an unplanned manner defying the norms of Master Development Plan 2025. In the empowered committee meeting, it was decided to develop the Jawahar Circle area from all four sides in a planned manner. Also, special building by-laws for construction was also proposed to be implemented in the area. However, all such norms are being openly flouted. It has been 11 years since the Master Plan 2025 came into force, but the JDA has not yet prepared a special plan for Jawahar Circle.
