BJP doubles seats in Eastern Rajasthan
Jaipur: Congress tried to make ERCP a big issue on 83 seats in 13 districts in eastern Rajasthan during the assembly elections but the Gurjar factor appeared dominant on these seats.
The biggest impact was seen on the seats which were influenced by Gurjar voters. In the 2018 elections, out of 83 assembly seats in 13 districts covered under ERCP, Congress won 49 seats, Independents won 8 seats and Rashtriya Lok Dal won one seat while BJP won only 25 seats.
Now Congress had to be satisfied with 30 seats in these districts. BJP’s tally doubled to 50 seats in these districts.
Independents and small parties got only three seats.
Congress had to face defeat in four out of five seats of Dausa. In Bharatpur district, BJP has won 5 seats, RLD won 1 seat and Independent has won 1 seat. Out of 11 seats in Alwar, Congress got 4 and BJP got 7 seats. Congress won three out of four seats in Dholpur and BSP won one. Two out of four seats in Karauli went to Congress and BJP each. Same was the situation in Sawai Madhopur district where two out of four seats went to the accounts of both the parties each.
Seven out of 19 seats in Jaipur district went to Congress and 12 to BJP. Of the eight seats in Ajmer, five went to BJP and three to Congress.
Congress and BJP got two seats each in Tonk district. Bundi was a district full of relief for Congress.
All three seats here went to the Congress.
Four out of six seats in Kota went to BJP and two to Congress. Four out of four seats in Baran went to BJP whereas in Jhalawar, out of four seats, BJP secured three and Congress won one.
