71 dams overflow across Rajasthan

Jaipur: According to the water resources department, 71 dams overflow in the state. 17.77 TMC of water inflow was recorded in WRD dams on Monday. Besides, 521.09 MM rainfall was recorded from June 1 to Sept 18, while the normal rainfall figure is 526.19 MM. 72.18 percent of water was made available in dams out of their total filling capacity.Out of 668 dams, 184 dams are completely filled.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in parts of State on Monday morning led to a disruption in the movement of some North Western Railway trains. The weather department has issued an ‘orange’ alert warning of heavy rainfall in many districts. 2 trains were cancelled and eight more were partially cancelled as the water level was above danger mark at a bridge between Bharuch & Ankleshwar in Vadodara division of Western Railway in neighbouring Gujarat.

Several parts recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall, the MeT dept said, adding that Nithuva in Dungarpur has recorded 21 cm of rain & Pratapgarh 16 cm since Sunday.

According to the Met centre, 200 mm of rainfall was recorded in Jaipur. The dept has issued an orange alert of heavy rain in many districts, including Sirohi, Pali & Dungarpur. Rainfall to continue for a day or two in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, it said.
