46 mining leases terminated in Adibadri & Kankanchal

Jaipur: The state government has issued separate orders of premature termination of all the 46 mining leases in Kankanchal and Adibadri mountain areas. ACS Mines Subodh Agarwal said that the department issued orders for cancellation of mining leases after giving an opportunity of hearing to all 46 mining lease holders as per rules. With the cancellation orders of all leases, now this area has become mining free. CM Gehlot had given instructions to convert this area into forest land last month. ACS Agarwal said that due to the religious and archaeological importance of Adibadri and Kankanchal areas of Bharatpur district, 757.40 hectares of land was declared as forest land by the State Government. After this, District Collector Bharatpur Alok Ranjan issued an order on July 21 and this land was transferred to the Forest Department. He said that 45 mining leases of masonry stone and one mining lease of silica sand were approved in 147.36 hectares around Adibadri and Kankanchal mountain area.
