MODI-SCHOLZ HOLD ‘FRUITFUL’ TALKS
New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India and Germany have strong ties based on shared democratic values and a deep understanding of each other’s interests. Speaking at a joint press meet along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, PM Modi noted that both nations have a long history of cultural and economic exchange. India has been advocating for resolution of Ukraine-Russia “dispute” through diplomacy and dialogue ever since the start of conflict last year, PM Modi said country was ready to contribute to any peace process.

German chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is on a twoday visit to India said that India has undertaken an enormous leap which is very good for the relations between 2 countries. Scholz said that he and Modi were committed to making a free trade deal between India and the European Union fi nally happen. Scholz described Russian “aggression” against Ukraine as a “major catastrophe” that has negatively impacted globe and said it is important to state “very clearly where we stand on this subject”, including at UN.
