Was Naga Chaitanya the reason behind Samantha opting out of Atlee’s Jawan?

Shah Rukh Khan and South filmmaker Atlee have finally announced the title of their film. The duo dropped the teaser yesterday, disclosing the name to be ‘Jawan’. The teaser showed a rugged Shah Rukh tying a bandage on his face while only revealing his right eye and lips. He is sitting in a deserted room filled with dust, guns, and communication devices. The teaser gives off a secret mission vibe and everyone knows that Indian audiences are a sucker for such plots. The film will also star Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, and Sunil Grover.

But reports say that Nayanthara wasn’t the first one to be approached for the film and another actress was the initial choice of Atlee. Actress Samantha Prabhu was offered Nayanthara’s part in 2019 but she rejected it as the actress was planning to start a family with her then-husband Naga Chaitanya.

According to Mid-Day, Samantha was planning to start a family with Naga Chaitanya and take a break from movies. As a result, the offer then went to Nayanthara who accepted. But now that the couple has split, it seems that the plans did not work out. Samantha and Chaitanya filed for divorce in October 2021 citing irreconcilable differences.

The makers of Jawan are planning to release the first looks, posters, and trailer of the film in due time reports stated. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan has Dunki and Pathaan to be released next year along with Jawan.
