Rajasthan to host sports week from August 26-31

Jaipur: For the first time in Rajasthan, various sports events will be organized for a week on the birth anniversary of Hockey Magician Major Dhyanchand. All the players will also be administered the oath of ‘Fit India’.

The event will be organized at a wide and grassroot level from 26 to 31 August across the state.The sports week will begin with a Prabhat Ferry at 7 am on Monday at the Chaugan Stadium.

Secretary of Rajasthan Sports Council Sohan Ram Chaudhary said that the Government of India has suggested organizing games like race, volleyball, hockey, football, tennis ball cricket, badminton, chess, basketball, table tennis, tug of war, rope jumping, khokho among others on the occasion of Sports Day.

“For the first time in the history of the state, sports events will be organized for a week. Along with this, everyone will also be encouraged to increase awareness towards cleanliness and tree plantation,” he said.
