Raj Excise department revs up the speed & how!

Jaipur: After a slow start, the excise settlement is now gaining momentum with the administrative skill of Excise Commissioner Chetan Deora.

After nine rounds of auction in two phases, the settlement has reached over 70%. Although the performance of Jaipur city is poor, it is expected that in this month the settlement will be reached up to 100%.

In March, during the first round of excise settlement in six auctions, where only 664 shops were auctioned across the state, in the second round, 2221 shops were auctioned in three attempts.

Before this, a total of 2501 shops were renewed. In fact, there was dissatisfaction among the liquor traders regarding the excise policy from the very beginning.

Due to which the Excise Department had to suffer a loss of more than Rs 200 crore in a week. Angered by failure of settlement, Principal Finance Secy Akhil Arora, FSR Suresh Gupta & Excise Commissioner Chetan Deora not only reprimanded the non-performing officers but also made seven officers APO.
