POLICE BUST ILLEGAL ARMS FACTORY, 3 HELD

Kanpur: With the aim to create disturbance during assembly elections, preparations were afoot to sell illegal weapons in rural areas in large numbers.

The SWAT team of SP (Outer) and Bidhnu police stations busted the illegal gun factory in which three persons have been arrested by the police besides seizure of equipment used to manufacture weapons along with two dozen illegal weapons.

The illegal weapons were sold for Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000. The arrested persons were in this business for the last several years.

On Tuesday night, the illegal firearm factory was busted in Ghatampur Gadharian Purva.

On Monday night, the police were checking the vehicles near Shambhua ROB when a SOG team informed about the arrival of 3 bike-borne youths with firearms.

Meanwhile, 3 youths riding bikes on seeing the police tried to take a Uturn.

The police nabbed the youths and recovered 3 pistols. During interrogation, the youths confessed to going towards the city for the sale of firearms.
