Final hearing in the case on August 29

New Delhi: On PIL of Lokesh Sharma, OSD to CM Ashok Gehlot, the final hearing in phone tapping case in Delhi HC was adjourned on Thursday. Now decision will be taken after the final hearing on August 29. The Delhi HC has upheld the stay on Sharma’s arrest which will now be effective till August 29. On Thursday, the hearing was postponed due to the absence of state government’s lawyer in the court. Delhi Police’s lawyer repeatedly opposed postponement of decision in the bench of Justice Jasmeet Singh.

On March 26, 2021, Delhi Crime Branch registered a case against Sharma and police officers for phone tapping, following the plaint of Union Jal Shakti Minister GS Shekhawat. Sharma had filed a PIL against this in Delhi HC & sought quashing of FIR. On May 9, Delhi HC, had granted relief to Lokesh Sharma from arrest till July 14 on condition of cooperating in probe, which will now continue till August 29.
