EXCLUSIVE! I was depressed for two years: Nushrratt Bharuccha on failures, life and Janhit Mein Jaari

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Nushrratt Bharuccha is one of the leading versatile actresses in Bollywood and is delivering some unconventional and out of the box movies. The actress has been immensely praised for her stellar performances and a lot is expected from her.

She seems to have listened to those expectations as she is coming up with a quirky yet socially provoking film ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’. Nushrratt sat down with First India Filmy and spoke about the film, dating life and much more.

Talking about whether she found the role challenging, Nushrratt stated, “I found it rather exciting. We actors wish to do something different, interesting and less explored. Very few filmmakers take that risk. Generally, people want to take the generalized stuff that is sure shot a hit. But Raj sir wrote this story because somewhere he believes in it. He had narrated this story on the Dream Girl sets and I was instantly ready to do it whenever it was ready.”

Joking on how she has been constantly asked the same question of Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety being a turning point for her, Nushrratt answered, “Industry-wise, trade wise, box office wise it was a turning point for the entire team. But as actors, our first film Pyaar ka Punchnama was our turning point.”

The Dream Girl actress revealed how she could effortlessly play a rural character in many of her films, stating, “I have no idea!” She added that she mostly got influenced by people in her life and at times took advice from veterans to help build up a character.

The actress stated that the compulsion around marriage is another topic she would like to raise questions on. “I think we have come to a space where we can have a life. If I want kids, I can even adopt. This constant question of when will I settle down is unnecessary. I am happy with the life I am living. I was once at a crossroads between marriage and career and I chose the latter,” she revealed.

Revealing why there weren’t any dating rumours about her, Nushrratt said, “Either paps don’t follow me or I did not have anyone to date! To be serious, I don’t want any kind of relationship inside the industry. This is my field so I want someone from a different background to give me exposure.”

Addressing the obscene comments she received online, the actress stated that she was determined to give the trolls a reply and she was glad that her friends and family supported her in the comments section.

Talking about dealing with failures, Nushrratt said, “I accepted myself and my flaws in those times. I was in depression for two years when Akaash Vani bombed. I had stopped laughing and meeting people. There were days when I felt lost. I once got a thought of clarity that no matter what you do, you have to move ahead in life. That is the nature of life. Life will always find a way to survive.”
