Ex-MP Brijraj Singh passes away at 87

Kota: Former Maharao of Kota Brijraj Singh breathed his last on Saturday at 87. A royal funeral was held and he was cremated at Kshar Bagh near Kishore Sagar pond.

The body was kept for last rites in Brijraj Bhawan and was brought to Ksharbagh where his son and former MP Ijyaraj Singh lit the pyre.

Brijraj Singh, was the son of Maharao Bhim Singh II, the last ruler of Kota. Maharao who was elected thrice in 1962-67 and in 1971, from Jhalawar Lok Sabha, won 2 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket. Ijyaraj Singh, son of late Maharao has also been a MP from Kota and Kalpana Devi Ladpura, wife of Ijyaraj Singh, is an MLA from Kota. CM Ashok Gehlot and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla condoled the death.
