Electoral drubbing has not dampened AAP’s spirit!

Lucknow: Aam Aadmi Party failed miserably in the electoral struggle for the power of UP, it failed to notch up a single seat. But now, recovering from this humiliating defeat, the party is preparing to give impetus to the strategy for the urban body elections to be held in UP at the end of current year. Significantly, in the elections to the UP assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party participated without any alliance and the party recorded a dismal vote share of 0.38 per cent. In many seats, the party could get fewer votes than the NOTA (none of the above) option; all 377 candidates of the party’s candidates lost their security deposits.

However, even in these disappointing results, the AAP leaders seemed to have a silver lining. Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP and AAP’s UP in-charge Sanjay Singh has said that his party got more than twenty five thousand votes in two seats; while in many other seats party candidates got 7,000-8,000 votes. This shows that there is enough space for AAP to emerge in UP. Now the Aam Aadmi Party is going to prepare itself extensively for the urban body elections of UP. Recently, the party has dissolved all the units of the state organization. Organization building in-charges have been deputed in all the districts of the state.

Through which the party organization is being prepared afresh from the booth level. An AAP functionary, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that his party may be seen as an alternative to national parties in other states, but the situation is different in UP. Here the party is faced with the weakness of the organizational structure, as well as there is no effective strategy in terms of caste-regional equations. He also added that although a roadmap is being prepared to make inroads among the urban voters, the BJP’s strong hold on these voters for a long time will pose a tough challenge for their party
