Dhaka’s return to Punjab may ‘ease’ Beniwal’s ‘fiery’ politics?

Jaipur: With the return of IAS Amit Dhaka to his home cadre of Punjab, from Rajasthan, where he was serving on deputation, one possibility has suddenly emerged.

It is being believed that now the RLP President and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal may not pursue or show interest in the Privilege Motion action, which is pending before the Parliamentary Committee.

Beniwal had brought this Privilege Motion in November 2019 against then CS, DG, the then Barmer SP Sudhir Choudhary and Amit Dhaka who was handling the work of Home department in CMO as Special Secretary. The matter also pertained to 2019 when Beniwal had travelled to Baytu in Barmer district for a political meeting.

This is a constituency of former minister Harish Choudhary, who is a political opponent of Hanuman Beniwal. Meanwhile, stones were pelted at Beniwal’s vehicle in Baytu and the MP accused Harish Choudhary and his supporters of the act.

Beniwal even wanted to file an FIR in the matter but the police did not file an FIR. Beniwal thereafter raised the issue of Breach of Privilege in the Parliament stating that FIR by an MP was not registered, and in this, he made Amit Dhaka a party to the development, along with other officials of Rajasthan.

He had levelled an accusation against Dhaka that this officer had directed the SP not to register an FIR.

However, knowledgeable sources claim that neither was there any direct link between the incident and Dhaka, nor was he anyhow associated with it.

However, through local politics, Beniwal wanted to settle his scores with Dhaka. Notably, Dhaka is a native of Nagaur.

Thereafter, a Parliamentary Committee has even summoned Dhaka twice to Delhi while the then SP of Barmer district - Sudhir Choudhary - has given his statements for three hours straight before a committee comprising of 15 MPs.

Further action is now pending in the matter. But now since Dhaka had left Rajasthan, perhaps Beniwal’s ‘issue’ has virtually become infructuous.
