Deputy Commissioner shifted as JMCG councillors protest

Jaipur: The councillors in the JMC Greater staged a dharna dharna in front of the entry gate on Tuesday and raised slogans demanding suspension of the Deputy Commissioner. Congress councillor Bharat Kumar had a dispute with the Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Planning Branch Mahesh Mann regarding the lease of the house. Late on Tuesday, Mann was removed and shifted to NUAM branch.

His charge was given to Shipra Sharma. The dispute had escalated and the councillor accused the Deputy Commissioner of pushing him out of the chamber.

Soon, more than 15 Congress councillors sat on dharna and were joined by BJP councillors too. “The Deputy Commissioner talked to me rudely. He then instructed his two guards who pushed me out of the chamber,” Kumar said.

However, when contacted, Mahesh Mann did not pick up the phone. The councillors of Congress and BJP unitedly demanded the Deputy Commissioner’s suspension.

On the other hand, Commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Deo defended the officials and said that all the public representatives coming to the zone office should be respected and their problems should be resolved. “If the problem is not resolved, then it must be reported at the higher level,” Singh said.

Earlier, 16 councillors of BJP and Congress of Murlipura zone area staged a sit-in outside the zone headquarters.
