BSP: The hidden factor in BJP’s UP poll victory!

New Delhi: Whatever may be said in the analysis of the election results, one aspect that cannot be negated is the fact that the Bahujan Samaj Party has played an important role in the victory of the BJP. If the caste and region wise vote percentage figures come out, then the picture will become clear.

The BSP fielded more Muslim candidates than SP and ensured the distribution of votes by fielding Muslim candidates in sensitive seats against non-Muslim candidates of SP, which had fielded 62 and BSP had fielded 88 Muslim candidates.

Many of these Muslim candidates are considered very strong and domineering in their area. Where both SP and BSP had Muslim candidates, Muslim voters did not face any problem.

But where there was a strong Muslim candidate of BSP in front of nonMuslim candidate of SP, the Muslim vote got divided. Mayawati had also given Muslim candidates for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Gorakhpur seat and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s Sirathu seat.

Both the candidates did not garner much votes, rather they created an atmosphere of polarisation ahead of the elections. For Mayawati, stopping the SP was more a priority than the BJP.

That’s why she got the message to vote for BJP at many places, as a result of which BSP’s own vote bank parted ways from the party
