BSF jawan shoots self with service rifle

Barmer: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at BSF’s battalion headquarter in Barmer, police said. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Dinesh Kumar (51), a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

He was head constable in BSF’s 142 battalion. The jawan shot himself at battalion headquarter at Jalipa in Barmer on Friday when he was alone at home, police said.

After hearing the gunshot, soldiers rushed him to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police are yet to find the reason for the alleged suicide, but suspect that the jawan ended his life out of depression due to family-related issues.
