Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials?

New Delhi: The story of the ‘dog walker’ IAS couple is a much discussed topic these days, not just in bureaucratic circles but in the general public too. The ‘dog walker’ IAS couple, it is alleged, used to vacate the Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi for ‘morning walk’. Athletes exercising and practicing in the stadium were asked to vacate the stadium before 7:30 so that the officials could walk around with the dog. An English newspaper revealed this and in a hurry, the government transferred both of them and sent the husband to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh. This decision of the government was highly praised in social media and a lot of memes were also made.

But the question is whether both have been sent to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh as punishment for a big mistake? Officers living in Delhi generally refer to postings in these states as punishment posting or compulsion posting. But in reality these two areas are the most sensitive areas for India. China has an eye on both Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh and its soldiers keep infiltrating these areas every day. China is trying to change the geography of these two areas and is also plotting to change the population structure or regional structure. Therefore, it is extremely dangerous proposition if such a sensitive state is being made a dumping ground as a punishment posting. As a rule, only the best of the best officers should be sent to these two areas.
