Another babu heads for Central deputation

Jaipur: One more senior IAS from Rajasthan cadre — Rajesh Kumar Yadav — will soon be heading to Delhi on central deputation as he has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Empowerement of Persons with Disabilities.

The DoPT issued the much awaited appointment list of Joint Secretaries on Wednesday under which only one officer from Rajasthan, among a total of 43 officers, has been named.

As of now, Praveen Kumar Gupta, Ajitabh Sharma and Subir Kumar are ‘in-waiting’. It is worth noting that out of the the list of containing names of 43 officers, only 17 IAS cadre officers have been given a chance as JS while the remaining 26 are non IAS officers.

It is the Union Government’s policy that it is handing responsibilities to officers from other services also. As such First India was informed, by relevant sources, that out of the four candidates for the JS post, by any luck, only 2 may get a spot. But even then only one officer has been included in the list. Therefore, now the remaining three officers will have to wait a little long for next list.

On the other hand, in Rajasthan Secretariat, speculations are rife as to who will be appointed in place of Rajesh Yadav in PWD, who has been handling the reins of the department since October 2020. He will therefore have to be relieved soon.

PWD is an important and huge department of the state government and therefore a senior and capable officer should be made its head. Sources reveal that this responsibility can be handed to an ACS also and therefore all eyes are no on DoP
