Akshay Kumar teaming up with Firoz Nadiadwala to revive Hera Pheri, Welcome and Awaara Pagal Deewana

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The box office has changed since the pandemic with some highly anticipated films bombing while some hidden gems getting their deserved recognition. This has also changed filmmakers’ outlook towards making movies and bringing out more theatre-viewing experiences with their projects. According to a previous report, Akshay Kumar who brought out the most films this year but did not receive a single hit has adopted a new approach towards making cinema. He has decided to star in more big theatre experiences with two heroes. Now, another report by Pinkvilla suggests that Khiladi Kumar has teamed up with Firoz Nadiadwala to revive some of his classic hits – Hera Pheri, Welcome and Awara Pagal Deewana.

A source close to the development revealed, “Over the years, Akshay Kumar and comedy have proved to be a lethal combo, and the actor has delivered a few of the most iconic characters for Hindi cinema in this space, which have formed a part of pop culture too. 3 of his many loved characters are Raju from Hera Pheri, Guru Gulab Khatri from Awara Pagal Deewana, and Rajiv from Welcome. Come 2023, he will be revisiting these characters one after the other with Hera Pheri 3, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, and Welcome 3.”

“Akshay and Firoz have had multiple meetings over the last month, to get everything in place for these projects. The idea is to revive the three franchises and bring back the Hindi cinema audience in a big way. The three films fit the bill of post-Covid content, to create genuine excitement in the audience. The talks are on with 3 top directors (we will bring more on this soon), and we expect an official announcement on one of the three projects in the next few months,” the source added.

Currently, Akshay Kumar has several projects lined up including a Marathi film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff, Housefull 5 with Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham, Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan and more projects.
