SODALA ELEVATED ROAD NOT TO BE STARTED FROM THIS 15 AUG

Jaipur: Sodala elevated road will take at least one more month to start as some of the work is still left to be completed. The project started by the former government in 2016 was scheduled to be completed in 2019 but it was delayed due to financial conditions of the contractor and then coronal pandemic. A 2-km stretch of the road from LIC building to Nandpuri was expected to start on the eve of Independence day on August 14 and chief secretary Usha Sharma had given the direction for the same during her recent visit to the project site.

However, certain work like installing bearings is going on and it will take around one more month. In this part, the vehicles will enter the elevated road from the side of LIC Bhawan and descend towards Nandpuri. Due to insufficient manpower and resources, the work is not gaining momentum and it will take about a month more to complete this work. The project is important for getting rid of traffic jams from 22 godown circle to Shyam Nagar. It takes nearly 20 minutes to cover the distance on the existing road and after the commissioning of the elevated road, the time duration will reduce by half and it will ease the traffic at several places like 22 godown circle, Hawa Sadak and Sodala tiraha.
