Initially Did not even have a permanent place to stay : Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most versatile actors in the B-town industry. There’s no one like Nawaz. He’s truly unique in his on-camera mannerisms and equally endearing off it. Mention the name Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the only synonymous ideas you can think of are ‘great actor’, ‘phenomenal talent’, ‘exceptional quality’. Even in mediocre films, he stands out like a diamond in the rough. 

The actor has shared screen space with some of the biggest names in the industry including Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. While Siddique has worked with the Pathaan actor in Raees, he shared screen space with Salman in a couple of films like Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. In a recent interview the actor opened up on his strengths, weaknesses and vices with candour.

Sharing his camaraderie with Salman Kham and Shah Rukh Khan he said , “The best part of working with Shah Rukh Khan was that we got to do a lot of rehearsals. Even when the team would think that a particular scene should be redone, we would shoot it again." 

He added , “With Salman Bhai, the experience is different. He’s so generous as an actor that he will give his best dialogue to you to say. He’ll be with you in front of the camera and say, ‘Ye le, ye dialogue tu bol le yaar (You can take this dialogue)’. I enjoyed working with bhai a lot," he went on to state.

Recently during an interaction The actor spoke about the hardships faced by him before making it big in the industry. He shared , “There was a time when I did not have work. So, I stayed with a senior. He let me stay but asked me to make our food. I did that. Soon I realised that I had ended up becoming a cook even though I had actually come to struggle. So I left the house in a rage. Then there was a point where I actually put my bag in one place and then brushed at another and so on.”

Nawazuddin eventually overcame these struggles to emerge as a popular name in the film industry. He also made a name for himself in the OTT space with Netflix’s Sacred Games.

On the professional front, Nawazuddin is currently working on Haddi, which features him in the role of a transgender person. He said that he stayed with transgender people to prepare for the part. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023 and it is touted as one of the most highly-anticipated projects of the actor.
