Om Birla to chair 2-day CPA India Region Conf from today in Delhi

New Delhi: The 10th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference will take place on September 23 and 24, 2024, at Parliament House in New Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who also serves as the Chairperson of the CPA India Region, will preside over the Conference.

The event will be attended by 46 Presiding Officers, including 4 Chairpersons, 25 Assembly Speakers, 3 Deputy Chairpersons, and 14 Deputy Speakers from various State and Union Territory Legislatures, along with their Principal Secretaries and accompanying officials.

Prior to the Conference, an Executive Committee meeting of the CPA India Region will be held.

The theme for this year’s Conference is “The Role of Legislative Bodies in the Attainment of Sustainable and Inclusive Development.”

Established in 2004 from the former CPA Asia Region, the CPA India Region comprises 31 Member Branches, including the Parliament of India and 30 State/UT Legislatures.

This will be the second time the CPA India Region Conference is hosted in New Delhi.
