Actually, after performing 500 wickets in Test cricket, the fans were trolling Stuart Broad by reminding them of six sixes of Yuvraj Singh.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh on Wednesday praised Stuart Broad, while 13 years ago he nearly ended the England pacer's career by hitting six sixes in an over. Broad became the seventh and fourth fast bowler to take 500 wickets in Test cricket on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Broad achieved this feat by dismissing Craig Braithwaite on the fifth and fifth day of the third and final Test in Manchester against the West Indies. Yuvraj told his fans on Twitter to appreciate the hard work and achievement of this England fast bowler.
Yuvraj tweeted, "I am sure whenever I write about Stuart Broad, people will associate it with six sixes. Today, I urge all my fans to appreciate what they have achieved. Getting 500 Test wickets is not a joke. It requires hard work and commitment. Broad you are the legend. Salute.'
I’m sure everytime I write something about @StuartBroad8, people relate to him getting hit for 6 sixes! Today I request all my fans to applaud what he has achieved! 500 test wickets is no joke-it takes hard work, dedication & determination. Broady you’re a legend! Hats off 👊🏽🙌🏻 pic.twitter.com/t9LvwEakdT— Yuvraj Singh (@YUVSTRONG12) July 29, 2020
Broad was in the second year of his international career when Yuvraj hit six sixes in his one over during the World T20 match in Durban in September 2007.
In the 19th over of the Indian innings, Yuvraj completed a half-century in just 12 balls, hitting six sixes on Broad, which is still the fastest half-century in the T20 format. Since then, Broad has played 140 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 56 T20 Internationals for England and has a total of 744 international wickets in his name.
