At the time of assembly elections, the Congress had announced the opening of Village Service Cooperative Society in every gram panchayat of the state. In its cradle, instructions have been given to open 500 new GSS every year and four years.
CM Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday approved the decision in a group-wise review meeting of departments related to agriculture and cooperatives. It was also decided to hold cooperative institutions elections in the meeting.
The CM has taken a principled decision to hold elections for the new executive organizations of cooperative societies whose tenure of the elected executive has been completed.

The merger of the state's land development banks with central cooperative banks is under consideration. A proposal has been prepared for this. In the review meeting, CM Ashok Gehlot has also instructed to examine the proposal of merger of land development banks with central cooperative banks.
At the same time, Gehlot has instructed to open a large number of procurement centers for purchase on the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat in the state.
The CM said that the purchase of MSP of wheat should be started in a phased manner under the 'decentralized procurement scheme' of the Central Government so that maximum procurement of wheat can be done in the state.
