Voting scheduled to be held on June 12

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is currently busy preparing to complete the entire process of formation of village governance in the state.

The state has decided to hold by election on June 12th to fill the vacant posts of Gram Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Member, Kshetra Panchayat Member and District Panchayat Member in the state. 

The District Magistrates are expected to issue notification for the same on June 2nd. The State Election Officer will issue a notification for the by-election once the DM issue a notification for the same.

The nominations for the elections will be filed from June 6th from 8AM onwards. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done for all the posts from 3 pm on June 6th.

On June 7, nomination papers can be withdrawn and election symbols will be allotted on the same day from 3 PM.

The state will go for polls for the vacant seats on June 12 from 7 am to 6 pm and the counting of votes will be done on June 14 from 8 am and the result will be declared on the same day as counting.

The state has a lot of posts of Gram Panchayat members lying vacant due to which more than 21,000 village Panchayats have not been formed and newly elected Gram Pradhans are also yet to take oath.  

With the completion of the formation process of more than 21,000 Gram Panchayats in Uttar Pradesh, the election of the posts of District Panchayat President and Block Chief has also intensified.
