Modi-Shah set stage for ‘Battle Gujarat’!

New Delhi: It was no accident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Gujarat to celebrate BJP’s recent victory in assembly polls in four states, including Uttar Pradesh.

The results of Uttar Pradesh came on March 10 and the Prime Minister was in Gujarat on the morning of March 11. He engaged in roadshows in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for two days on March 11 and 12, post which, he also attended the meeting of Somnath Temple Trust and also inaugurated an institute.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was present with him on both these occasions. Amit Shah again reached Gujarat after the swearingin of BJP Chief Ministers in Uttar Pradesh and other states, but his remark, that Gujarat is the home of BJP and Congress will be wiped out here, gained resonance among the masses. Keep in mind that the Congress had won 77 out of 182 assembly seats in the Gujarat elections last time and the BJP could not cross the hundred mark. The BJP had lost 16 seats and the Congress had gained the same number of seats.

The BJP’s vote had increased by 1.15 per cent, while that of the Congress had increased by 2.57 per cent. It can be said that after five years, Congress is no longer in that position and now a new force has emerged in the form of Aam Aadmi Party, which will be helpful in defeating Congress by makign major dents in its electorate. Despite this, Amit Shah’s attack on the Congress and laying of the foundation for electoral attacks on Congress in Gujarat as the home of the BJP is not a minor thing. Rahul Gandhi has also met the leaders of Gujarat and the Aam Aadmi Party has also sent its vanguard to Gujarat.
