T20 World Cup 2022: Top 3 Contender To Lift The Trophy

The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will commence on October 16 as defending champions Australia will host the tournament. As the teams are prepping up to compete for the coveted title, fans have began speculating on the sides that have the best chance of winning the title.

Teams are placed in two groups (Group 1 and Group 2) consisting of six teams each that make up the Super 12. Eight teams have officially qualified, and four other teams will need to play the first stage qualifiers in order to play the regular tournament. Moreover, two teams that top the T20 World Cup Points Table from each group further progress to the elimination rounds that is the semi-finals.

As the T20 World Cup 2022 is just less than two weeks away, based on the squad and recent performances three teams stand out and are well placed to lift the trophy this edition. The fans will be excited to stay updated with the latest Live Cricket Score for every fixture during the tournament.

Top 3 Contenders to lift the trophy

1. Australia

Another side that may not be a surprise are host nation and reigning, defending champions Australia. The Aussies remain a formidable side and favourites to win T20 World Cup. Last year, the side lifted their maiden trophy following the win against New Zealand. Since the previous edition, Australia Cricket Board decided to only have one change as big-hitting finisher Tim David replaced leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson. The decision was made as the Australian conditions don't call for many spin bowling options. Sides placed along with Australia will find it tricky to dominate the fixtures as Australia look clear favourites to be in contention to retain the title.

2. India

No surprises, team India are certainly one of the best sides that can give rival nations a run for their money and can compete to win the title. The Men in Blue are placed with the likes of Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and two other sides from the first stage qualifiers. While it seems tricky as Pakistan were the side that handed India the loss in the last year’s edition, Rohit Sharma and Co. look rejuvenated and will be on the hunt for redemption. Undoubtedly, the initial motive will be to top the T20 World Cup Points Table by maintaining consistency and dominance. It will be interesting to see if team India are able to lift their second World Cup title after 2007.

3. England

Following the 4-3 T20I series win against Pakistan in away soil, England appear to have built a balanced squad that can help them compete for the title this year. Their emphatic 67-run victory in the series-decider against Babar Azam’s Pakistan just goes on to show that England are a team that cannot be taken lightly considering the depth in the squad. Moreover, the likes of Harry Brook, Ben Duckett and Phil Salt produced standout performances at different occasions of the series. Dawid Malan too found his form in the final match in the Pakistan series and the national side will hope that he plays vital knocks in the forthcoming tournament. The inclusion of these lads in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 makes England a lethal side.
