Urs commences; Jannati darwaza opens up for pilgrmis at dargah

Ajmer: The unofficial beginning of the 811th Urs of Khwaja Garib Nawaz started with the flag ceremony in which sandal ceremony was performed on the 28th night of Moon in Garib Nawaz’s dargah. The Jannati Darwaza was also opened on early Sunday morning with rituals and there was a rush of pilgrims.

If the moon of Rajab is sighted on Sunday, then Jannati Darwaza will remain open, otherwise this door will be shut at night with the closure of court and will be opened again on next morning, which will remain open for 6 days. It is believed that whoever passes through this door, goes to heaven.
