UNDERPASS SWALLOWS CAR IN JAISALMER, CLOSE SHAVE FOR 3

Jaisalmer: Three people had a narrow escape in Jaisalmer’s Parewar village on Monday when they accidentally drove their car into a waterlogged underpass. Car driver Devi Dan informed that the railway underpass was waterlogged due to the heavy rains in the area.

“The accident occurred at an underpass on the Sonu-Hamira rail line. The car got submerged in the waterlogged underpass while we moved ahead. The gates of the car got locked as water poured in and we had to break the rear glass of the car,” said Devi Dan. “We managed to come out of the car and swim back to save our lives,” added Devi Dan. Meanwhile, severe waterlogging has taken place in various parts of Dholpur due to heavy rainfall across the city on Sunday. Vehicle movement came to a halt due to excessive water on roads.

Owing to heavy rainfall and rise in water level, four gates of Jhalawar’s Kalisindh Dam were opened on Monday. Officials informed that dam gates were opened to a height of 12 meters and 45,682 cusecs of water was released downstream following the rise in the water level.
