Two women drown as old wall collapses during rituals

Udaipur: Two women drowned while others were injured due to wall collapse on Jaljhulni Ekadashi in Udaipur on Tuesday evening. The wall near the pool was years old and was dilapidated. During the ritual, 8 women, including a child, fell into the pool due as the wall collapsed. Six people including the child were taken out.

The team of the Civil Defence reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies of both the women. The incident happened at Baiji Raj Ki Kund in Dehligate. District Collector Tarachand Meena also reached the spot. The deceased were identified as Vimala Mantri (70) and Sajjan Kunwar (40), residents of Dhanmandi. Meanwhile, two sisters drowned in Mansi Wakal dam in Udaipur’s Jhadol area. They got trapped in an illegal fishing net and died. Locals have been protesting against illegal fishing in the dam.
