Two-hr downpour submerges Tonk, streets turn to rivers, water enters houses, shops

Tonk: A two-hour downpour on Sunday left the city of Tonk submerged, transforming streets into rivers. According to records from the Irrigation Department, 52 mm of rainfall was recorded between 8 AM and 10 AM. The heavy rain inundated several areas, including Old Tonk and Kali Palton, flooding the main market with water levels reaching up to two feet.

Businesses and homes were affected, with daily essentials and goods soaked in the deluge.

Over the past 24 hours, the district has experienced both intense and lighter showers.

As of Sunday morning, an average of 6.4 mm of rain was recorded. This led to a slowdown in the inflow into the Bisalpur Dam, which saw a rise of 7 centimeters, bringing the water level to 310.30 meters as of 6 AM today.
