Tiger T-34 found dead in Ranthambore, injury marks seen on neck and legs

Sawai Madhopur: A tiger was found dead at the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur district on Sunday, officials informed. The carcass of T-34, aged around 16 years, was found in Zone 6 of the tiger reserve, following which it was taken to the Rajbagh forest chowki. Ranthambore Deputy Conservator of Forest Mahendra Sharma said prima facie it seems that T-34 was killed in a fight with another tiger as injury marks were seen on neck and legs of the tiger. “The tiger died five to six days ago, while the carcass was spotted deep inside the jungle on a hill,” said Mahendra Sharma. The animal’s last rites were performed after a postmortem was conducted by veterinarians in presence of forest and administrative officials, Sharma said.
