Suspended IAS from Assam, 2 others held in multi-cr scam
Ajmer: Three people, including Assam’s suspended IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma and her son-in-law, have been arrested from Ajmer in connection with an alleged scam of Rs 105 crore in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of Assam. Sewali’s maid was also taken into custody.
The vigilance team of Assam carried out this action on Monday morning with the help of Ajmer’s Kotwali police station. All the three accused had been hiding in Ajmer. They were produced in the CGM court here and taken on remand to Assam.
A special team of Assam Vigilance reached Ajmer under the leadership of Inspector Pritam Sekia late on Sunday night and arrested Sewali Devi Sharma, her son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh and Rahul Amin from Hotel Cross Lane, Jaipur Road, Ajmer on the basis of location.
Sewali Devi Sharma is alleged to have been in SCERT between 2017- 2020. It is alleged that she had opened 5 bank accounts without the consent of the government and was allegedly involved in scams of more than Rs 100 crore.
